120 Brave is consistently watchable because it knows where it’s going and is able to get there without letting the difficulties of the genre distract it from its path.

120 Bahadur needed a strong emotional backbone to tie its technical strengths together. That too without the clichéd melodrama. The craft is certainly there, the 20 intention is unwavering, but the film fails to deliver the kind of long-term impact that such a big story deserves. A tighter script, and a sharper balance between emotion and spectacle could have elevated it from an honest tribute to a stirring war drama.

It seems like everyone wants to build the next border. But my honest request is that Bollywood should never try to make war films. To massacre such a brave story of an equally brave army soldier, who not only led but also inspired his 120 brave men, and give such a poor portrayal of the story is shameful on the part of the filmmaker.

But despite the gorgeous frame, honest performances and deep respect in every scene, ‘120 Bahadur’ never reaches the heights it aims for. It doesn’t shake you the way a war movie should. You appreciate it deeply, but you don’t carry it in your chest. And the film based on one of the most heroic stands in Indian military history ultimately falls short of becoming iconic. It salutes the brave with all sincerity, but does not immortalize them.

120 is a film about brave hearts, hard work and determination. It salutes bravery, celebrates the sacrifices of soldiers, and brings a difficult chapter like the Battle of Rezang La to the big screen, but the film fails to completely capture the deep emotion and cinematic intensity that this story truly deserves. It’s a good movie, but not great. The story is strong, but the presentation is weak at times. The visuals are spectacular, but the emotional connection is lost. Still, this is a film that must be seen, as it reminds us that the real heroes are not on the screen, but standing on the fringes. Hence, it deserves 3 out of 5 stars.
