‘Ek Din’ is like a beautifully arranged symphony whose notes are not particularly deep. But they suggest an enduring harmony between place and heart. You can’t miss the sound of heartbreak, not when Ram Sampath’s background score reveals a measured emotional undercurrent while the lead actors take center stage. And if all else fails – and that’s not the case here – there’s always Sai Pallavi, an actress who is so far ahead of the competition that she makes the rest look like cheerleaders.
